Volunteers Make a Difference and We Welcome You!
Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines...Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Do you have an interest in history or would you like to learn more about Marin County? Perhaps you have a special skill, or a lifetime of experience, or a little free time?
We invite you to come explore the opportunities of volunteering with the Marin History Museum. This year's schedule of new exhibitions, events and educational activities has generated much enthusiasm here at the Museum, and we hope you will join us in helping to bring the history of Marin alive for both children and adults. We respect, value and appreciate our volunteers and understand how each plays an important role in every facet of the Museum. Volunteers help make it possible for MHM to fulfill its mission through exhibitions, educational programs, library archives and collections.
We are flexible and will do our best to work with your schedule. A variety of opportunities are available, both working with the public and behind the scenes:
- Visitor Services
- Greeter
- Docent
- Historic Walking Tour Guide
- Administrative Assistant
- Events/Programs/Family Activities
Assist in the Collections and Library departments, share your leadership and management skills or your talent for repairs and exhibit installation. Or, how about sitting, reading the daily newspaper and clipping articles for our archives?
Preserving our past for future generations is an incredible legacy and we invite you to be part of making this happen. For information and an application please contact Shelley Hamner, Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at (415) 454-8538 ext. 4#, or e-mail
shelley@marinhistory.org.
