Holly Gallagher holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from San Jose State University and a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University. She joins the staff at the Museum after working among such prestigious museums as the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, in San Francisco, California, the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, in Santa Rosa, California, and the Auckland War Memorial Museum in Auckland, New Zealand. She is the first recipient of the Gianna Capecci Scholarship Award, and is author of "Preserve History, Preserve your Sanity: Volunteer Management within Small History Museum Collections," which is about working to help collections management members better preserve and maintain the collections with the assistance of the volunteers which already exist within their museums. She has also written articles for the JFKU newsletter, and was a co-speaker at a workshop for the 2010 California Association of Museums Conference.

Michelle Sarjeant Kaufman graduated from John F. Kennedy University, in Berkeley, California, with a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies in June 2009. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in Art History and British Literature from Pacific University, in Forest Grove, Oregon. She has worked with the Marin History Museum for over five years as Registrar and Collections Manager. Before joining the Museum, Michelle has worked with such prominent museums as the Oakland Museum of California, in Oakland, California, the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, in Santa Rosa, California, where she archived and re-housed approximately 5,000 original pieces of artwork by Charles Schulz, and the Anne T. Kent California Room in the Civic Center Branch of the Marin County Free Library. Before these experiences she ran her own freelance photography business and worked as a book conservator. Michelle is the photography editor for the soon-to-be published book on San Francisco’s State Belt Railroad and is currently co-authoring the Marin History Museum’s next book titled Modern San Rafael with MHM Librarian Jocelyn Moss. She was also a workshop speaker at the 2010 California Association of Museums Conference.

Jocelyn Moss has been with the Marin History Museum since 1990 as the institution’s sole librarian. She is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and the George Peabody College for Teachers, now the Education Department at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Before that she worked at the California Historical Society in San Francisco, the California Room at the Marin County Free Library, and the California Genealogical Society & Library in Oakland, California, totaling more than 30 years of experience. Jocelyn is also the author of Early San Rafael and is currently co-authoring the Marin History Museum’s next book titled Modern San Rafael with MHM Director Michelle Kaufman.

Doug DeFors has a Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University with an emphasis in Collections Management. He also holds a double major Bachelor’s Degree in Art from SFSU in Fine Art Photography and Art History. Doug has worked in the Registration Departments of the FAMSF, de Young Museum and Legion of Honor, SFMOMA, and previously at the Marin History Museum. As an Independent Museum Registrar Doug has also enjoyed performing collections management projects for many small and large museums and private collections in the greater Bay Area. Doug has also been a guest presenter at both AAM and WMA annual conferences on the subject of collections management strategies and innovations.
