Be a Part of History
Quite simply, the Marin History Museum is its volunteers. Generous community members help our small professional staff with the myriad things it takes to run a museum and its programs.
Besides, it is a lot more fun to have the community involved in hands-on history.
The Museum has ongoing needs for research, writing, curatorial assistance, educational outreach, graphic design and computer support. We also need people to help with the administrative and support work necessary to keep the collection organized, improve our community outreach and produce our events.
We will train you in specific museum skills -- so don’t worry if you have never done this sort of work before.
The Marin History Museum is also an excellent place for student interns to build their skills or for students to obtain community service hours.
If you have a particular topic that intrigues you or a skill you want to use, we can help you do it. We are willing to design museum programs around volunteers who are interested in projects that helps us deepen our understanding of Marin’s history or improves Museum services.
